About Archival Printing:
Each work of art will be crafted using a new digital printmaking process.
Similar to the older traditional ateliers, the artist works hand in
hand with the printmaker to realize his or her vision. The artworks
are created as very limited editions using archival inks and hand made
water color papers selected by the artist.
This print will be made on an Epson pigmented ink jet printer. The
printer sprays pigmented ink through fine nozzles to create a rich,
smooth and detailed image. The inks are water resistant. Most work
is printed on American hand made papers manufactured by Crane. The
printmaker and artist choose a paper or substrate that enhances the
image. A printmaker carefully prepares the image so the colors and
composition of the image accurately reflect the artist's vision. The
image is approved by the artist and finally the artwork is printed.
Each print may take up to one hour to be completed.
Epson ink jet prints on Crane paper have a projected life of one hundred
years. Other materials will affect longevity. The prints should be
treated like a fine watercolor original and therefore the prints should
be framed under glass using archival materials. All prints are sensitive
to surface scratching. All prints should be stored flat in archival
papers and wrappings. When you unpack your prints remove all tape from
the glassine to avoid damage to the print surface.
